A
Laminated or kiln-dried Log Home by California Builders,
Inc.
may cost a little bit more than one of our wood framed
houses of the same design when fully completed. However,
when the log wall is erected, it replaces five elements
of a conventional home. They are the wood stud framing
exterior wall, the exterior plywood sub-sheathing, the
insulation, the exterior siding and the inside drywall
or paneling.
A laminated log is engineered by parallel sawing the solid wood log apart
into three to five equal component strands. Utilizing
the modern "American kiln-drying method" to
dry the component members from the inside out & gluing
it back together again under the highest industry standards
using extremely high pressure with "stronger-than-wood"
wet-use adhesives; the ever present water moisture content
problem of an air-dried solid wood log wall has been permanently
eliminated.
A log home built by CBI not only incorporates natural
log on the outside & inside, but is extraordinarily
strong & stable due to the fact that the inherent
log moisture content has been permanently removed. Because
of the low moisture content, the log house by CBI is
highly resistant to rot & decay from dormant bugs,
termites & fungi. Our kiln-dried white pine logs
have been graded to assure quality.
